Profhilo is an injectable treatment that we offer in clinic.
It differs from other injectable treatments in that it is stabilised thermally, rather than with any additional chemical compounds that may be present in other products. This allows for a more "natural" product, containing zero synthetic materials.
Profhilo is the only injectable treatment currently available that is able to stimulate all four types of collagen and elastin. Profhilo is best-described as a ‘bio rejuvenator’, or ‘tissue stimulator’ as it work within the tissue and stimulates our own bodies.
To quote a recent article in Aesthetics Journal, Dr Ravichandran says, “Profhilo does not create the volumetric lift or volume replacement associated with cross-linked dermal fillers, however, it creates volume in the tissue where it is needed due to its high spreadability. Owing to this characteristic, it is an ideal treatment for challenging areas as well, such as the neck, perioral area, and hands and arms, where we do not see the significant volume loss, but skin has lost elasticity.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Profhilo Injected and is it Painful?
Profhilo is injected superficially, using a specialised technique. It is called the BAP technique and is described as “5 injection sites on each side of the face, away from major vessels, nerves etc. and in such a way as to maximise the ‘spreadability’ of the product through diffuse regions of the cheek and jawline”. Profhilo is formulated in such a way that it migrates and travels to all areas of the tissue within the face without resistance, giving even distribution despite only depositing in select spots.
How often would I need treatment?
Patients initially need two treatments and in some cases three, spaced 4 weeks apart. After this initial treatment, a top up will be necessary twice per year to maintain results.
Profhilo does not sit in the tissue long term, it is metabolised by the body completely. The effects last around 6 months.
